Robin Hood Pairs 2023

This year's competition saw 24 members gather in Buckingham Park for a day of bowling, eating BBQ'd food and socialising. An early start for some (JMcM was there from 7 a.m.) but after a grey start, the weather turned out a scorcher in the afternoon. Thanks go to all who set things up, provided food, scored matches and cleaned up afterwards.

A good turnout for the day.

Tension was high around the scoring.

Chef Dave provided welcome fuel.

Play continued into the afternoon. Chef in action.

Woodingdean Invitation Tournament 2023

A Shoreham Bowls Club team won the tournament again. Playing as the Shoreham Strikers, Sue, Paul, Dave and Marion took the trophy for the club's second year in succession. The Strikers beat another SBC team, The Shorehamd Seagulls, on their way to the final.

Congratulations to everyone that represented the club.

Adur Top Team Competition 2023

SBC had a good representation at this year's event, entering in the mens and ladies pairs, the mixed and open triples and the rinks competitions. SBC won the ladies pairs (Brenda Page and Barbara Velardo), were runners-up in the mens pairs (Dave Hoggen and Bob Page). With runners-up finishes in other groups, this led to Shoreham winning the overall trophy. Well done and thanks to everyone that organised and took part.

90th Birthday Celebration 2023

The 10th September 2023 saw the celebration of 90 years since the Shoreham Bowling Club was set up. Past members and invited guests met to celebrate the occasion, and current members played a friendly match against a Sussex county team. The afternoon "rolled-off" with a Spider, the entry fees going to a charity of the County Presidents choosing. The afternoon was rounded off with a birthday buffet for all who attended.

Friar Tuck 2023

Twenty members competed in this year's Friar Tuck Drawn Pairs. John McMurren organised the event and Sue Warley provided a good lunch, helped by Jane. Even the weather co-operated (sort of). It was won by Ann Stainsby & Trevor Langrish with Sue Warley & Dave Goodman the runners-up.

Candlelit Bowls 2023

This event gathered a hardy group of bowlers to play a short match at the SBC club-house. Starting at dusk on the 29th September and concluding on the darkness of 8 o'clock, it was surprising how good (or not so good) some people are at to bowling in the dark. Given the full moon, everyone was very well behaved and no light aircraft mistook the green for Shoreham Airport. Top rink was Dave Goodman's team, who were awarded with Cornetto's for their efforts. Lots of laughter and shining of torches with a few nibbles afterwards. Thanks go to Brenda and crew for the organisation.

Christmas Lunch 2023

For some, the festive season started with the SBC Christmas Lunch. It was attended by over 40 members who met at AIBC. Santa and his helper were in attendance and a good time was had by all. Thanks go to Suzie for the organisation. The photos below show some the revellers.
