Outdoor Open Bowling Tournaments

Various bowling clubs in Sussex run annual outdoor open tournaments which any of  our members are entitled to enter at their own expense.

The majority of these tournaments are all day competitions and are played in either a Triples (3 bowls) or a Rinks (2 bowls) format.  Usually participants form teams with other members of their club and play in four qualifying matches with each match lasting for 6 ends.  There is usually a break in between each match.

Generally the four most successful teams on the day play in a 1st/2nd place final or a 3rd/4th place final and there is normally prize money and sometimes trophies for those who reach the final stages.

There is always an entrance fee for these tournaments but that often includes the cost of a very nice lunch and the entrance fees are usually good value for money.

The standard of the bowlers who enter these events is fairly mixed so you are likely to come up against inexperienced and experienced bowlers.

The tournaments can be great fun to play in and provide an opportunity to spend a lovely day together together with some of your friends from our club and other clubs.

Please see the list below of clubs who hold Open Tournaments in the area together with the month in which they take place.  You should be able to find more information about each tournament by visiting  the clubs websites.
